I know you can delete the author - when you do that, it'll ask you if 
you want all the posts by that author deleted, or attributed to someone 
else.

'Course, if you want to *keep* them (just un-publish them) then that 
won't work for you.  But if you want to totally get rid of them, you 
could do that.  Then, if you want to keep the author around, you can 
re-create him.
