[wp-hackers] Permalink Changes

I have a client that is constantly changing permalinks, and it's  
driving me nuts. In your opinion, what is the best way to allow  
changes to the permalinks without creating a thousand 404 errors? An  
auto redirect?

I was under the impression at one point that Wordpress keeps track of  
permalink changes in the DB, and automatically redirects. But testing  
proved that one to be not true. Was that a plugin that I was thinking  
about?
