As the provider couldn't solve the issue (Uuuh, yeah, sure, whatever) I
came up with a hack. Unfortunately it's a core hack, which I
don't like but my friend is OK with it, as long as it made his site
response normally again. I edited the wp-includes/cron.php to use an IP
instead of site url.
