To be fair, unit tests are not something that non-professionals in the
trade understand or care about, much.

Just saying that real user, or even wp-hacker, input is not something
to avoid either. A group of people who really know their stuff is not
going to come up with the same things as the people actually working
with and implementing the same stuff in the field.

Different groups have different concerns, and neither group should be neglected.
