PS: if you want to see some code that might help you out, you could  
check out my old web-based streaming jukebox project and take some of  
the bits you need (GPL).

The above site and source is historical only, since the codebase has  
been merged into the Jinzora project in 2003, but there might be some  
nuggets you can use.
