[wp-hackers] future post, future ping?

Hello,

As far as I know, when you make a future post, wordpress will ping it
in the future only. Is it really true for 2.3.1?

But I found a plugin which said wordpress ping is dangerous to use,
sine when you make a future post, it will ping that post at the time
you press the publish button.
