Maybe you could simply omit the WP loop for that special purpose in your
category.php (or index.php if you don't have a category.php):

if ( is_category('map') )
{
	map stuff;
}
elseif ( is_category('stats') ) 
{
	stats stuff;
}
else
{
	Da Loop;
}
