We are going to have this discussion over and over again until we set a line in the sand and say for example Wordpress 3.0 will require PHP 5.x 

Only when we do that, will the hosting companies react..

Gallery2 is also considering moving to php5 as well, and I know a number of other CMS's are also in the same camp, so lets stop talking about this and act..
