I think people in #wordpress wish it was the case :) People on IRC really 
do ask absolutely every kind of question, from advanced hacking topics to 
really really newbie stuff.

Narrow your search with {wordpress "email problem"} (quotes) if you think 
google has some authority to guesstimate the severity of such a focused 
topic. I think something like 
<http://wordpress.org/search/email+not+sent?forums=1> would be a more 
legitimate way of doing so, but I'd even trust an active forum helper more 
than a search query to evaluate the spreading of the problem.
