WP.com is an OpenID provider, so with an OpenID plugin for your  
privately hosted WordPress blog, you could log in using your WP.com- 
provided OpenID.

Personally I'd like to see WP.com become an OpenID *consumer* -- but  
that's a discussion for a different forum.

Regarding .org -- there is some sort of internal syncing going on so  
that user accounts are shared among various wp.org properties, but  
there's no OpenID that I'm aware of.
