Yeah, Google Groups (abbreviated <GG> :P) is just a nice frontend to
mailing lists. It lets you treat them kind of like forums, for those
that prefer not to use an email client for these kinds of things.....

There are other sites for starting your own mailing list... but
anything officially WP would have to be @lists.automattic.com.... did
you have an idea?
