You can also use SVN to update a WP install that isn't already a SVN  
checkout... merely checkout WP to a different directory and then export.

# svn co http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress/branches/2.0/ wordpress- 
checkout/
# svn export --force wordpress-checkout/ actual-wp-install/
