[wp-hackers] blog by email, locally

Hello

I am on debian etch and have installed wordpress locally 
as localhost/wordpress.

Now I would prefer to post a blog via email using my favourite mail
client. Since everything is local on my machine, the question arises
can't I use the smtp and pop3 server of my machine which would send
the blog?
