It isn't a matter of if Wordpress can handle it, it is more a matter
of if your current hosting situation will handle it.
There are so many variables like how many images they are and the
number of posts displayed & their length it really is impossible to
say, with wp-cache Wordpress should behave fairly similar to a static
site.
