I humbly submit Blogs Of The Day.

The entire project is quite flexible and I am willing to modify
virtually any part of it to make it more acceptable to the community
at large. The new version of the plugin, net yet released, is well
documented and it demonstrates many of the things a plugin can do: use
hooks, create template tags, get and cache external data with Snoopy,
add an options page. Update notification is just around the corner,
too.
