 Does this still occur with the [https://github.com/rmccue/WP-API-
 Multisite/blob/master/multisite.php multisite plugin] enabled? (Note that
 both should be activated network wide.)

 (Technically, this isn't in scope, but I'd like to make sure it at least
 doesn't break.)
