[theme-reviewers] Getting Theme Download Count

If we wanted to get and display the download count for one of our themes,
would it be appropriate to use a plugin like:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/plugin-download-count/

The reason I'm concerned is that I'm not aware of any other way to retrieve
this info, other than the plugin basically using a bot from our server to
scrape and collect that data.

If that's the case I'd imagine that would be putting undesirable load on
the wp.org server(s), possibly resulting in a ban.

*@Otto* - I would assume you'd be most informed in answering this?
