[theme-reviewers] Question about removing default widgets

Not necessarily.  The functionality is what's important.  For example, 
one single widget might cover both the WordPress archives and recent 
posts widget.  It just depends on the particular widget(s).  In general 
though, yes, you'd need to replace any widget that you removed.
