[theme-reviewers] An idea regarding the user review system

Unfortunately, it simply doesn't work that way and never will.

The typical WordPress user isn't a web designer or programmer. They
couldn't give an objective review even if they were considerate enough to
be willing to do so.

Their reviews are consumer/end-user reviews which match exactly that of
their peers and what their peers want to read in a review. Furthermore,
reviews/ratings of any kind, heck even voting will always be botched by the
bias and subjective nature.

It's impossible to change this.

If 10 average Joe's said "This theme is dumb and ugly." and all gave it 1
star and then one expert programmer actually reviewed the code and found it
to be flawless, valid, standards-compliant, sanitized etc etc and gave it 5
stars, the overall rating would be what, 1.5 stars?

1.5 stars would be the appropriate rating because the majority of the
people reviewing it, represents the primary demographic using it, the ones
that the theme needs to appeal to. They are the audience and they decide.
It's sort of like when you ask someone if a movie was good. I guarantee
you'll be more likely to go with what one of your peers says over say a
movie critic or you grandmother.
