@Cais, totally agree -- and I hope I didn't sound like I was going
after your response! I was aiming at the general question of "is this
stuff no longer needed" but I can get a little vehement on the
subject.

As for ARIA in the guidelines, I think we're probably not there yet.
I'd love to see accessibility review take off, and with _s and all the
twenties using ARIA, there's a lot of solid stuff for people to build
on to make accessible themes. But making it a requirement for all
themes feels to me like one of those areas where having so many
guidelines becomes a burden for themers. I'd be much more down with a
guideline along the lines of "ARIA is optional, but if used it has to
be done correctly".
