The Script Kiddies don't do that. They just run scripts that attempt all
known hacks, usually against some IP range (unless a specific site is
targeted, in e.g. a DDOS attack).
Showing (or not) the version of WordPress is purely an aesthetic matter, as
far as I'm concerned.
