[theme-reviewers] New theme requirements are a drag

Hey theme reviewer folks. I'd like to direct your attention to my new post: http://somadesign.ca/2010/wordpress-org-theme-requirements-are-a-drag/

The theme requirements are, bluntly, dumb and excessive. They produce too much work for theme authors and reviewers alike. Many items in the required section should be in the recommended section.

I salute the work that you folks are doing. But we need to think seriously about the discouraging message we're sending to amateurs and enthusiasts, who are exactly the folks who made WordPress the success that it is.
