Interesting. That would imply that Gmail doesn't only look at the 
In-Reply-To: header, but also at the actual Subject:. On the one hand it 
might solve the problem of people hitting reply on a random message, 
deleting subject and content and in their opinion creating a new topic, 
while in most mailclients their message will show up somewhere in another 
thread because of the In-Reply-To: header. On the other hand, people 
shouldn't do that in the first place as it is very annoying.

Thunderbird handles the [signed] in the subject just fine btw.
