[wp-hackers] Auto Upgrade

Is WordPress still supposed to auto-upgrade the database?  My 1.5-gamma 
to 1.5-final upgrade didn't happen automatically.  The html_type setting 
wasn't added, which meant that my site was broken in Internet Explorer 
(it tried to download the pages).  Had to run /wp-admin/upgrade.php 
manually... which I know I should have done anyway, but didn't this used 
to happen automatically?
