[wp-hackers] update-links.php

I notice that Matthew has removed
wordpress/wp-includes/links-update-xml.php from the WP download with
the message "Removal of changes.xml bloat." It seems that
wp-admin/update-links.php is its replacement.

I've been running the new file every 15 minutes as a cron job, but it
seems to be missing lots of updated weblogs, even ones which I'm sure
ping pingomatic (the service update-links seems to use).

Am I doing something wrong, or is the service at api.pingomatic.com
just not ready for prime time yet?
