[wp-hackers] Comment spam floods?

Is there something wrong with wp 1.2.1? nothing seems to work properly for
configuration:

1) getting spammed sensless via comments - disable comments - they still
come through. They even come through on new posts where comments have
never been enabled
2) Disable email notifications for comments (which shouldn't get through
anyway) - emails still come
3) Try to mass delete comments - doesn't work - there's a workaround on
the support forum but it's just one of loads of conf bugs
4) blacklist is set to delete comments - it doesn't

I've heard talk of 1.3 coming - will it be configurable - coz 1.2.1 isn't!
