[wp-hackers] Comment Spam Stopped?

I have to say I've been clean of spammers for a month or two, and then just 
today some home mortgage guy started hitting my site randomly every 
2-20mins.  Running through all different post numbers.

I just rewrote my anti-spam system some to better filter these guys 
(checking referring page, for example), log the user agent and referrer on 
moderation, plus a one-click flush to nuke all things that are being flagged 
by the blacklist.  My next step is a new user registration system (separate 
from 'admin registration'...), allow only registered users to comment, and 
then add in captcha or something to the user reg, and as a last resort throw 
the user into temp moderation if I get more than N posts in an hour...

Of course... I might just grab someone else's anti-spam system, since I just 
finished my first-pass merge of the CHAITGEAR code up from WP1.0 to 1.3, and 
have most everything moving into plugins (well, most of the 'major' CG 
plugins were already prepped for 1.3, but I have a lot of custom backend 
work that I still have to figure out the 'right' way to migrate, like custom 
post fields that are in the post records themselves...)
