If I have understood this correctly - would it be useful if the value for
the variable was not just true / false but the actual value if true eg
$on_category = the category the page is set to display.

$on_author?
$on_parent??? (not really an 'on' condition, '$has-parent' probably doesn't
fit at all and easy to obtain once you have the category)
