Okay, I will conceed for a patch day, but I think the emphasis should be
placed on WP1.2.x instead of 1.3. We have several known issues that do
need to be resolved in a "user friendly" way urgently.

An example would be the wp-login.php bug. Fixes for this have been
posted in the forums, but non-dev users are going to be overwhelmed by
it. An official 'patch' that they can just drop in would definitely go a
long way... Also things like the trackback issue that keeps showing its
ugly head.

Thats just two examples. There are plenty of others in mosquito.

It was suggested in #wordpress that if we just concentrated on 1.3 and
got that out sooner, these other issues wouldn't be a problem. But 1.3
is still Alpha, is not feature-complete and, as Carthik pointed out, a
long way from release.

I know most people on this list are hackers and are looking to the next
release most of the time, and I know I've not been following things for
the past 2 months or so. But coming back and trying to catch up on
things, I can't help but get the feeling that most people are ignoring
the 1.2.x tree and the bugs listed against it and devoting all their
attention to the 1.3 code. I'm not saying that is the case, but it is
how things do appear.

To put my money where my mouth is, my intention over the next little
while will be to concentrate on the 1.2.x code. Getting the stable
release to a state where all known bugs are squashed and it really can
be called 'stable' should be a very high priority.

WP1.3 is still a long way off. How about a Patch Day to help Ryan get
1.2.2 out all the sooner instead?
