 Thanks a lot for your feedback. Well, the BP REST API is included during
 our build process, so this issue should not happen with our stable
 releases. I never got this issue because I always have the
 [https://github.com/buddypress/BP-REST development version of the BP REST
 API] activated.

 That being said, this fatal is pretty ugly. We should probably remove it.
 I'm going to look at it.
