 Replying to [comment:28 johnjamesjacoby]:

 string freeze by choice.
 Correct.

 Running `grunt release` and pushing to
 `https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/browser/buddypress/trunk/` will make
 new strings available to translators via GlotPress.

 Patch 5621.3.diff removes `buddypress.pot` from /trunk of
 `buddypress.svn.wordpress.org` repo
 (Hmmm patch looks weird, `svn del buddypress.pot` should achieve the
 required result)
