 Yes, it makes sense to get #3794 finished first as I think we'll be able
 to re-use a lot of the same implementation.

 To start the like button discussion again, and having read through all the
 previous comments once again, I'd like to propose the following course of
 action:

 * Finish #3794.
 * Rename the existing "favourite" button to "bookmark".
 * Add a new "like" button to the Activity component.
  * Technically, we'll be liking Activity items rather than the real
 object/post that the activity points to, but to the end user, they won't
 notice the difference.
  * In the activity item template, show either gravatars of everyone who
 has liked an item, or just text like "10 people have liked this item", or
 some combination/variation thereof (to be decided later).
