Comment:

 I think there would be no harm to do this, and plugins like bbPress
 provide an option for both, but I agree it isn't a priority for the core
 team at the moment, but I'll shift it into our Future Release milestone to
 give the idea some time to bake, or see if anyone wants to work on a
 patch.
