Comment (by stevenkword):

 Hi imath,

I understand the proposed solution, but unfortunately it doesn't satisfy
the reported problem. The goal is to do exactly the opposite. I'd like
to create blogname/username pairs, where every user gets one single "blog"
 with their username.

We should provide this functionality with subdomains as it is a common
structure used for niche communities. If you think about GitHub for
example, the username is also the home slug for that user. (e.g.
https://github.com/stevenkword/ ). This sort of structure would be
beneficial for site that don't use the "blog" as it's primary

I'd like to make an argument for keeping and supporting username/blogname
pairs. Can we continue to think on this a little bit and see if we can
find a way to accomplish this? I think it is important.
