Comment:

 Agreed, imath. 5108.02.patch implements 1, 2, and 3 as described in
 https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5128#comment:9

 A big advantage of this technique is that it's no longer necessary to
 refactor the `BP_Core_User` queries that reference last_activity usermeta.
 They'll continue to work as before, because the data will still be there
 and will continue to be updated.
