 5021.3.patch incorporates the two helper functions I mention above, plus
 adds in_the_loop() checks to them to make sure they're only happening for
 the main loop. This ensures we're hitting the actual body content, and not
 other query loops.

 This seems like the best approach to me, though I'm not actually sure if
 it fixes the bug that's initially reported here.
