 In PHP, I don't think there's a way around using object buffering to check
 for the meta tag.
 It might be possible to do this with jQuery, but is this a good idea?

 It might be better to just force the <meta> tag and let developers opt-out
 of this with `remove_action`.  This is akin to how WordPress forces a ton
 of <meta> bloat (like RSS feeds, link relationships, Windows Live Writer
 support, etc.), but allows devs to unhook them.

 Chances are slim that there are bp-default child themes using this tag
