Comment:

 This item should be revisited as a UI/UX enhancement for the general user.
 I understand that it can be included asa theme extension, but for the
 average use case (non-dev), the ability to simply upload a new default
 avatar for both groups and members would be of considerable value.  This
 is a core branding function of the initial install, just like naming the
 site or stting one's tagline.  The mystery man, monsters and geometric
 patterns quickly id the site as a BP install.
