Comment:

 Anybody want to take this on? I'd imagine that the easiest technique will
 be to grab all of the requests for wp-login.php and redirect them back to
 the home page, bringing along all of the redirect arguments and possibly
 using some template notices around the login box to inform about errors.

 Or, instead of this kind of hack, someone could submit a patch to WP core
 that would make wp-login.php a themeable file :)
