 Dark espresso, found it.

 This does not seem to work with the default About page generated by WPMU:
 - Front page: Activity Stream
 - Posts page: About

 When creating a new blank page named Blog it works when:
 - Front page: Activity Stream
 - Posts page: Blog

 Not sure why this is, nor why I can't select a single post (not a page) in
 the post page setting.

 Should the select post page contain a latest posts option?
