Funny thing is a I set the debug as this doesn't work for me either.
I have tried the php5 in my.htaccess and it doesn't work either.   It
gives me a firefox error and nothing in debug:

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for
this address in a way that will never complete.

    *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
          cookies.

I have php 4.3.38 and mySQL 4.1.21
