[bbDev] Installer Error: Bad Email Address Not Reported

This will be my first post to this list so apologies if you already know 
this:
I just spent two days (about 6 hours total time) trying to install bb-press 
on my local machine.  i setup a 'randy at localhost' email address in the 
config.php file.  This would have been a technically correct address, but is 
not a valid address, only the installer didn't alert me to the error it just 
said that an account with the name "randy" [correct] with a password of "" 
[incorrect] had been created.
It would be nice if there were an error during the installer to check to see 
if the $id variable was populated.
