[bbDev] Translating bbPress

Hi,
I'm trying to change just one word (Topic -> Thread) in bbPress, and 
wanted to do it properly.
I was going to follow the method shown for WP (at 
http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress), but there is no POT 
file, and I have had difficulty creating one.

Can anyone please help me?
