 I am of the opinion that the first point is true and the second is a
 maybe.

 We have a lot of baggage in the namespace and backpress has made
 standardisation worse by introducing another standard for naming of
 functions and filters. I think we should clear out the deprecated
 functions with 1.0-beta.

 To a certain extent point two is true, but we can't feel tied to this too
 much.
