 I wish you could vote on bugs like in Bugzilla.  I vote for this one.
 This should absolutely be the default, just like in WordPress.  You
 shouldn't need to modify .htaccess manually, and when MultiViews does not
 work, you should not have to access a file to generate rewrite rules, then
 edit .htaccess.  Too many hoops.
