 Okay I think I am beginning to understand - I'll have to study it more to
 come up with any futher more intelligent questions.

 I want to build an "ignore" plugin (to block one member from seeing
 another member's posts if they don't get along, etc) and I want to make it
 compatible with both 0.8.2 and the trunk so I need to figure this out...
