Comment:

 I concur. In addition, IndexNow is supported by most of the major SEO
 plugins now which means those users who want to take advantage of it have
 several options.

 In its current state this doesn't feel like it benefits the majority of
 WordPress users, so let's close this as maybelater. It can be revisited
 and discussion can continue while the ticket is closed, but this isn't on
 the roadmap for the foreseeable future.
