 Note: the combined patch needs a little work, still, but I wanted to get
 an update posted this morning.

 Adding a label in the link modal broke the modal selectors, which were all
 based on firstChild relationships; I think I'm still missing one in the
 above patch, but will take care of that this afternoon.
