 I completely agree with @priethor that we shouldn't remove patterns from a
 theme. That would remove key features of the theme in favor of
 performance, and doesn't solve the problem at all.

 However, as @spacedmonkey said, the performance here is a lot worse than
 in TT3 (partly >70% worse as seen in the ticket description), so we need
 to prioritize a solution for that.

 The problem needs to be tackled in Core/Gutenberg: Uncashed file lookups
 for all the patterns on every page load is a huge performance burden, and
 as @onemaggie mentioned above, fixing that would benefit performance of
 all other block themes as well.
