 Thanks so much for the synopsis. I agree with this assessment, and your
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/59718?replyto=18#comment:22 follow
 up comment].

 In particular (along with the notes that this has been the case since
 5.8), I agree that it's important for it to remain safe for Gutenberg to
 be experimental, and that this includes being able to change class
 visibility as features evolve.
